I needed a wax before my trip to Cancun. After reading the reviews on Yelp, I decided to try Katherine for my first Brazilian. I am so glad I did. It was over in 10 minutes. She was really sweet and walked me through everything to put me at ease. Thanks!

Katherine is the shizznet! Her place is so cute, clean, calming. Two words: NUMBING SPRAY! Hallelujah! And she's quick, does as much as she can to help minimize the discomfort, and she gets it all off...clean as can be. Really a great place to go for your next Brazilian. Use her easy online appointment service as well.

I recently decided to take the plunge and get my first Brazilian. With help from Yelpers, I chose Hush.
Katherine told me to take some Advil before the appointment. Unfortunately for me, no Advil was found at home. Well, glad to say that I didn't really need it. No, it wasn't totally painless. There were painful moments but they were not unbearable and were not long lasting. Katherine and I just chatted the whole time, which made a not so comfortable situation more pleasant. She did a good job getting most of the hair and it was relatively quick.
I walked out with a brazilian, stomach waxed as well, the epilar treatment and some PFB Vanish for aftercare. Price came to $155 + tips. Still not sure if I'll make this a regular practice. But will definitely come back here if there is a next time.

I've been long overdue for a waxing visit, and for the past year, I've been going to a sugaring salon in Seattle. So, when I came to SF for the summer, I was on the hunt for a good hair removal joint. I've been to BellaPelle and WaxOn (both good spots), but wanted to try a new place.
I search around the ol' yelp listings and decided to give Hush a try--because it looked like a great deal and had great reviews, and I didn't want to fork over $70 for a brazilian anymore.
Katherine is very informative and easy-going, with great bedside manner. She made me feel relaxed and comfortable the entire time. The waxing salon is in the basement of a hair salon--a little ghetto and makeshift, which is actually very charming to me.
I give the experience a 3-star rating because, honestly, the waxing just wasn't that great. It hurt more than I expected, and I have a pretty high threshold for wax pain. She uses a hard wax, which doesn't leave sticky bits on your skin afterwards (a huge plus!), but doesn't really pull the hair out as much it actually just breaks it. So, a week later, I find that the hair is already growing back. Sad.
So, I think while Katherine is a lovely gal who probably does great work, my first experience was not so good. I may give her a try again sometime in the future, because no matter how good you are, sometimes you just have a bad wax day.
I went to Katherine yesterday for a facial and my skin has never been happier. She provides a kick ass facial with wonderful natural products, that I actually believe she believes in, at a reasonable price. I really felt that she paid attention to what my skin needed and was gentle and wonderful as always. She is defiantly my one stop shop for ALL skin care.

LIke everyone else has said, Katherine at Hush is amazing! Scheduling an appointment is super-easy and she took me in right at my appointment time with no waiting. And also like everyone said, her brazilians are as close to pain-free as you can get. She is very nice and inviting and I didn't feel at all embarassed about showing it all for her to do what she does best. I will most definitely be returning!
Katherine is my San Francisco savior. From her focus on cleanliness to her attention to detail to her calm & friendly demeanor to her AMAZING products...everything about Hush and its owner rock my world.
Her knowledge of waxing and proper care of that area are astounding. She uses hard wax AND antibacterial wipes AND a numbing spray!! Plus, she's very attuned to her customer's needs and places customer service above profits...which is a GREAT business strategy as far as I'm concerned! I've already sent my roommate to her with fantastic results and am circulating her name to anyone I know who wants a brazillian.

Katherine's awesome. Found her on yelp when I was looking for an esthetician close to home. Since she had great reviews, I had to try her out. While waxing has never been a fun experience (especially the lower you go) Katherine makes it fairly painless. She is thorough and makes you comfortable during the entire process. Plus she really enjoys what she does. Which is great because lord knows I hate to shave and love what she does as well. Prices are completely reasonable. Cute little place she has and I love that you can make appointments online.

Wow, thank you yelp! This is the best Brazilian I've ever had. I have kept trying different places that people will rave as "the best" - but truly, this IS the best! I can't agree more with what everyone's said:
- painless. ok, so there is always SOME pain, but seriously, much much reduced than anywhere else. The type of wax she uses, she puts on an oil first and that makes a HUGE difference. I have really sensitive skin and I feel fantastic
- charismatic. there was no awkward silences that can sometimes happen with your first 'date'. katherine was funny, charming, and makes you feel extremely comfortable, right away.
- bang for your buck. katherine does an amazing job for much less than what i've paid to be wincing and uncomfortable
- online reservations! i always remember these things at inconvenient hours, great that i can just sign up anytime.
i'll definitely be back.

Katherine is quick, and down to business when it comes to waxing. And I appreciate that! I mean, who wants to hang out - literally, have it all hang out-- for longer than necessary? And she is thorough!
The hard wax was great, and resulted in a less painful waxing experience.
Her space is quaint and comfortable. I love the online appointment system! So easy and totally eliminates the back and forth phone calls typical of setting up appointments.
Unlike Rachael, she was unable to do a last minute brow for me. But no worries. I'll be back :)
Katherine is god-sent. Thanks to this fabulous website, I finally found someone who can provide waxing at a decent price. Plus, the most rewarding thing about this find is that, Katherine makes the experience much more bearable...everyone is dead on when they mention it doesnt hurt! She walks you through the process, explaining the type of wax used and how to keep your skin healthy. Her studio is located below a beauty salon. Small, but quaint.
I never considered waxing underarms, till this place. Goodbye razor blades and shaving cream. Although I'm scared sh*tless to get brazilians done, actually considering it...only if done at Hush skin with Katherine!

Being punched in the vagina: $50
Gratuity given to sweet Katherine who pulled the hair out of your labia majora while you lay half naked, sobbing quietly into a towel feeling as though your vagina were being punched, hard, repeatedly: $10
Epilar System, a hair growth inhibiting gel that is massaged into your labia majora after said waxing/vagina punching, which over time can result in less hair in that region, eventually making brazilian waxes feel less like being punched in the vagina: I don't know, I was too busy sobbing quietly into a towel

I went to Katherine for my first Brazilian, and was more than a little nervous because a) my skin is freakishly sensitive and b) I was leaving the next day for a week in the Mayan Riviera, so if it was a bad wax, everyone would see the repercussions.
I walked into the salon obviously looking confused as to where I should go, when a lovely gentleman took me by the hand and led me to Katherine's area. There she offered me wine (wine before noon! yay!) and I waited a couple minutes on her sofa while she finished up with the previous client. Once she was done and ready for me, I went in, and she had the supplies (a paper thong, an antibacterial wipe and NUMBING SPRAY!!) ready for me. She gave detailed instructions on what to do- which I was grateful for, being a n00b with the whole waxing thing- and left me to change.
Once I was stripped down and numbed up, the waxing began. Katherine was a great chit-chatter, just enough to take your mind off of what was happening below the belt... which turned out to be easy as pie! Katherine explained to me the benefits of her hard wax and I could really tell the difference (later that day I had my legs strip waxed at Marilyn Jaeger, and my legs had more red bumps than my uber-sensitive bikini area skin). I'm not going to lie and say it was completely painless, but it was completely manageable.
The end result was fantastic! Thank you, thank you Katherine for a smooth, bump free week in Mexico! I'm definitely coming back.

Katherine rocks! Will definitely be going to her from now on for waxing... she is meticulous and has a very pleasant and calming tableside manner. I also like that she offers a topical anesthetic before treatment and is very reasonably priced... she definitely makes getting hair ripped from your nether regions as bearable as possible!

um, katherine is the best waxer i have ever been to. if i were an esthetician i would be just like her: meticulous, professional, clean and friendly.
she uses gloves, leaves the room while i change, provides a smock for clients, uses disposable waxing sticks and hard wax. plus her prices are totally reasonable, she is knowledgeable, has a system which allows clients to make their own appointments online and carries great products including epilar!

Katherine is amazing, so glad I found her (thank you yelp!) I made my appointment online, which is so handy since I, um, 'lean' towards disorganization. Being able to make my appointments right when I think of it (usually about 11:00 PM) is just what I need. I'm a licensed esthetician myself and was really just looking to try getting a brazilian wax done with hard wax (my spa only uses strip wax) from someone who knew what they were doing. I told Katherine this and was so happy she didn't get suspicious or think I was spying or something. I honestly just wanted to try to find an esthetician in my area who did a great brazilian wax (you can't do your own brazilian, kids, seriously.....). I'm sold! She takes her time and preps the skin (she has numbing spray, yo!), uses multiple soothing products afterwards and has quality hard wax that is so gentle on the skin (my very sensitive skin wasn't red afterwards! At all!!). Plus she knows how to work with it using good technique. A skilled esthetician for sure, and super cool. The best part, it's only $50!! That is a seriously good deal for someone who does waxing of her caliber. Thanks Katherine!

I decided to give Katherine a try after reading all the rave reviews, and I was not dissapointed. Previously I frequented a higher end spa for brazilian waxes. Being that this was the only place I knew I thought that amount of pain was normal. After getting a wax from Katherine I realize that it does not have to hurt that bad. The hard wax she used was wonderful and this combined with the sprays she used cut the pain in half, at least. The price is right and the online appoint making is great. I also got an eyebrow wax which was also very good. I used to dread my waxing appointments, but not anymore!

Had a fantastic eyebrow wax with Katherine. Her practice is tucked behind the hair salon upstairs and honestly didn't hear any of the bustle of the business upstairs. She carries a line of natural/organic face products and gave me generous samples to try at home. The wax itself didn't hurt and felt like having scotch tape ripped off quickly. I am very satisfied the shape of my eyebrows and the kind service I received--thanks Katherine!

I'm writing this to warn people who are interested in seeing Katherine for an eyebrow wax. I went on this Yelp because I didn't know of good places to get an eye-brow wax in SF. It seemed that people were amazed with Katherine so I felt confident going to her. I didn't care so much that her salon is in the basement (I knew that going in), the problem was that she completely butchered my eye brows. Ok, I didn't leave without eye brows or anything, but she did an EXTREMELY bad job. I've had eye-brow waxes for the past 10 years, and I didn't know someone could botch it up so much! They were uneven, she left strands of hair everywhere, and she even chopped off the natural arch I have! I should have known something went wrong when, after the wax, she decided to pencil them in before showing me what they look like. I even asked to see them and she said, "well, hold on." I went to see my really sweet and supportive friend after going to Katherine, and she said to me, "yeah, she did a really bad job... its ok though, they'll grow back."
Because of Yelp's high support for Katherine, I'm actually wondering if people who posted all these great things about Katherine are actually her friends or something, because she was really really bad! Just know that if you are reading this and thinking about getting your eye-brows waxed by Katherine, you're really taking a risk! Go elsewhere!

Katherine is amazing! I've been seeing her for years now (back when she was working at a Spa) and I have always had a fabulous experience (as fabulous as you can get with a brazilian). She is precise, thorough and very well-informed. My brows and brazilians always look great. I have tried so many aesthetcians over the years and I've never had a better experience.
Katherine is absolutely amazing! (despite all the negative things that I read about lash perms) I loved mine! I have short lashes that grow both straight and downward... when she was done with me they looked great (I was able to see them without the aid of a magnify glass)... but with the wave of the mascara wand- BAM BAM I had what looked like false lashes on! Ooooh and even after a month of having them done they look great.... (they supposedly last for 2 months- 30.00 for 2 months of amazing lashes- that's a steal!)....
Katherine was sweet, I didn't feel embarrassed or self conscious with her. She communicates well and is interested in WHAT you want, and making you happy... She has the demeanor, and professionalism of a high priced esthetician, except she charges a fraction of the price. I suspect in a year or two her prices will soar as she builds up her client lists (and I can't see anyone not going back to her- so maybe sooner) but she will still be worth every penny.
I loved the space she works in- it's clean, sterile, comfortable, soothing, calming, all those wonderful things....

I just love having a stranger pull the unwanted hairs off my body. Especially when its down under. Then again...I later found out that she's a friend of a friend and we actually went out before. Awkward....
I found this place on CL when Katherine had her summer special. Now, its a part of my monthly routine. Her waxing is great. Doesn't hurt and she doesnt miss a hair. Super nice and friendly. She loves what she does...is quaint and not trying to constantly push people out in order to get the next appointment in.

Katherine specializes in waxing but also try her lash perms. My lashes are thin and kind of long, but flat. After the perm, they were still thin but kinda curly. When I applied my mascara this morning. WOW. Worth every penny. and not having to curl my lashes with the eyelash curler? AMAZING!

I love Katherine!! recently went to her for a brazilian and eyebrow wax and she did an awesome job and also made me feel really at ease. Her studio is also really lovely and relaxing. She does not charge ridiculous prices for her services which proves you don't always have to spend a fortune to go to someone brilliant. I would recommend her to anyone!!

I went to beauty school and have had my fair share of painful waxing's so I know a great one! The ambiance of her space is comfy and cozy, the color scheme is calming, and did I mention she rocks?! 7/4/07 UPDATE: I am very protective of my face and who touches it, but a thought over came me and I said if she can make my downstairs look pretty I bet she can make my face look just as good and yes she did! I had the hush peel last week and boy does my skin look awesome! Oh how I've missed this dewy glow I have! Her touch is to die for. I walked in a grouchy woman who looked rough around the edges and walked out a shiny diamond!

I met Katherine a few weeks ago, and after talking to her, I decided I would give her a shot. I am a total massage slut, and I wasn't sure what to expect when I went to her. I was immediately put at ease by her, and was treated to an amazing 90 minute massage that left me feeling both exhausted and energized. Typically, when I get 90 minute massages I am ready for the end, but I could have stayed there all day. I like her, and in some weird zen way I'd say there was a good massage connection there. As with a previous yelper, I liked the online resevation tool.

Katherine is great! She knows her products and she makes a painful experience fast and almost fun! Hard wax is the way to go and the new white wax doesn't even really hurt! =)
This was my first time Brazilian bikini wax and I had no idea where to go. I have wanted to give it a try for quiet some time, but always talked myself out of it. From reading Katherine's reviews I thought I would give it a shot.
First, she is incredibly sweet. She made me feel right at home and I wasn't as scared as I thought I would be. She made the experience seem like a great cross between hanging out with an old girlfriend and visiting the most professional technician.
Her studio is quiet and quaint and makes you feel less intimidated. To calm my nerves she offered up a glass of wine which I gladly accepted.
As for the waxing, I never once felt embarrassed and it really didn't hurt that bad. It isn't the most comfortable, but she made it as pain free a possible. Before I knew it, we were done, and the pain was gone. I know I will be back.....I live in New York City and I know I will be back.
She also tinted my lashes which turned out beautifully. I recommend anyone to visit her studio. She is a gem!!!

I have seen Katherine 5 times for waxing. Each time she was warm and friendly, while providing excellent professional services. She always checks in on my comfort level (I'm fine), and gives helpful information about maintaining and improving my skin's vitality. It is very easy to set or change appointments online, and her studio is clean, warm and inviting. I have always enjoyed seeing Katherine, and have felt better leaving than I did going in.
