I love Mikes! They are always very friendly and helpful! Last time I needed some wine I came here, but it was already 5 minutes past closing time, yet they opened up for my sister and I, asked us what we were looking for and helped us! To top it all off they gave us a great deal on a few bottles of wine! Thanks guys!
Any time I need some wine or beer, I walk the extra few blocks to come here over Safeway...better deals and friendly workers!
Need booze for a party be it wild or tame? Mike's is the place to go. A friend of mine has delivered booze for Mikes for a few years so I started using them for all my parties. If you are in San Francisco they will deliver all the booze, if you have a huge party and dont know how much to get they will sell you booze on consignment...they take the unopened back!!!!
Mikes is the only way to go if you want to take the stress out of the party and actually enjoy it, rather than worrying about every little detail!
Super friendly and efficient, with a great list of beers (http://www.mikesliquor...). They're always on time, have complementary delivery, and are really easy to deal with. Why would you get your kegs anywhere else?
Only place where I can find Torres 10 without having to take a flight to a foreign country to secure it.
Tim at Mike's Discount Liquor is my new best friend...After Safeway screwed up yet another order at the last minute...it is on to Yelp to find a store that delivers champagne. Tim was great from the start and is having my chilled champagne delivered by noon Thursday! Shop local is all I can say....
I was looking for an alternative to Bevmo and Mike's was perfect. Jockey Box rental was only $25 for four days and they don't charge a $12 tap cleaning fee like Bevmo does. I got there before they opened and they were nice enough to let me in and get me on my way. The staff is very friendly and it's easy to pull up to the curb right in front.
Outstanding! What a great liquor store! They provided kegs, jockey boxes, ice, cups, and soft drinks for my recent party for 300 people... and they couldn't have been more helpful, economical and professional. From ordering through delivery, I was totally impressed.
My company usually orders through the Jug Shop... but I always hated doing business with them because they are invariably rude... and expensive.
Mike's Liquors prices are cheap, the selection is vast and the staff is wonderful. They rock!
Mike's Liquor is a hidden gem where you can find interesting aged California wines. Based on their location and store front, you would never guess that have older vintages of some premium Cabs that you cannot find at bigger and nicer wine stores like K&L or Wine Club.

The manager (owner?) here is surprisingly very knowledgeable about wine. He was honest, admitting 1998 was not a good year for Napa Cabs. While Mike's Liqour cannot substitute my trips to K&L, it is a good place to know.

Mike's liquor is amaaaazing...this place not only can tell you the amount of booze you will need for a party, but they will also glady deliver and pick up....once you add delivery and all the extras, they end up being cheaper than BevMo...they are certainly worth the trip to wherever they are located (seriously, I have only been to this area for this store!)

We have Mike's Liquor for our Beer Bash on Friday and they always come on time they always are easy to work with. Now I use them for personal events also.

I must be the only one who goes to Mike's for something other than beer, reading the reviews here.
Mike's has a terrific tequila selection, along with some excellent mezcal, which is often hard to find (there is a liquor store on Haight St that also has a good mezcal selection.) The prices are good, not great, but some of what they have is impossible to find elsewhere.
So I give them six stars for selection, four stars for price, and five stars for location (ten minutes from home, closer than any Bevmo.)
Return visit - they also have some good deals on wine.
Update: Mike's has been sold and I have no idea how it will be once the new owner takes over.

One thing I know my dad will miss immensely now that my parents are relocating to Phoenix is Mike's Liquor. Mike is super helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. They deliver, and are always on time. They have a wide selection of beverages, and "accessories" for your drinking needs.
If you live in San Francisco, and need a keg, some nice import beer, a bottle of wine, or any other liquor, stop by Mike's, they'll take care of you.
I went to Mike's for the first time yesterday. I happened to be walking by. I was heading toward Safeway, a place I don't really go to that often, for a bottle of wine to bring to a Christmas party.
The prices are reasonable. They have a nice selection. The employees are friendly.
I'll go back.

Since I moved to SF, I've ditched a lot of chain stores in favor of shopping at local places, but I never thought I'd find a suitable replacement for Bevmo. After all, booze is booze, and if you're trying to sustain a fully stocked bar through one cocktail party after another, you can't afford to mess around. You need to get stuff for the absolute lowest price.
And yet, when someone from *Sunnyvale* recommends a store in the Excelsior, you gotta follow up. So I checked out Mike's Discount Liquor, complete with a cheat sheet of Bevmo prices, and sure enough, most of what I was looking for is the same price or even cheaper. And yet you still get personal service and knowledgeable advice (especially if you're after tequila--it's their specialty), unlike the blank stares I usually get at Bevmo. Granted, they were missing a few things (applejack, Hangar One Kaffir Lime), but in general you'll find what you need, and at the right price. And how could I not love a place that proudly features Pumpkin Liqueur?
Also, they have a great website with all their prices, and you can fill out an order there and come pick it up. And they'll deliver for free on orders of $75 or more. And check out their phenomenal list of kegs; if I ever need one of those, I know where I'm going.

This place still does a great job delivering my beer kegs and liquor. I was told that the old owners are selling and I hope that the new ones continue to provide the same outstanding service. I feel for their drivers who constantly bring kegs up one, two, or three flights of stairs. They're the best. So next time you get a keg from Mike's remember they deliver for free (with all the high gas prices I don't see how they make any profit) and like I always do, TIP the Driver, they deserve it.
so yeah, they have kegs and wines and liquors and all that fun stuff. yeah, they are nice and helpful and knowledgeable. yeah, they have picketers out front that don't keep me out. but what brings me to mike's every week is their dubonnet. i can't get it anywhere else around. they sell the big bottle for cheaper than bevmo's smaller bottle. they tell me i'm the only person under 60 that buys it. and the two people over 60 get it by the case.
i can't wait till i'm old and rich.
then i will be dubin-it-up for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

"There are two empty kegs blocking the only fire exit in my apartment.
Not to worry, they'll be gone soon thanks to Mike's Liquors, who delivers kegs for FREE and will pick them back up for a mere $15.
I ordered two half-barrel kegs from Mike's, New Belgium Blue Paddle (which is not easy to find) and Miller High Life. Prices are a tiny bit higher than Bevmo, but supporting a local store with the convenience of free delivery is worth it. Mike's delivered both kegs, ice and cups, dragged it all up my two flights of stairs, and even tapped and iced the kegs for me... FOR FREE! (Tip your delivery guy!)
They also have plastic champagne flutes, to give the champagne of beer that special touch.

This is *the* place to buy keg's in SF. Even before I lived out in the Excelsior I bought my kegs from them. They deliver the kegs and they'll pick them up again for a modest fee.
The guys always take care of my beer needs for our yearly St. Pat's blow out and people are always *amazed* at how good Murphy's stout out of a keg tastes. I can leave it at that

They're not out to take your money: I wanted around 20-25 gallons of beer, but they talked me down to 15 due to the size of my event and the amount an average person can consume safely. They deliver in the morning: 11am, the self-proclaimed Beer Guy did a little dance and delivered it up a flight of stairs. The service: The Beer Guy did everything! The keg was ready to go by 11:15am and I was enjoying a cold beer by noon.

Great prices, very competitive with BevMo, except that Mikes DELIVERS KEGS. If you have ever tried to load a keg in a car, unload it, and then drag it up your front stairs, you know what I'm talking about.
Usually, you get somebody who can be kinda funny upon delivery as well. Nothing wrong with that!

MIkes should go on your "Best place in the city to buy a Keg of Guinness". In fact, it's the only place in the city to reliably buy a keg of guinness. Maybe once a year BevHo's will have them.
Mikes is awesome. These fine gentlemen used to deliver a keg of guinness to my apartment every 2 months. They'd even bring the beast up to our third floor apartment. No elevator in that building, these guys aren't wimps!
Mike is multi-talented! It's not just beer these guys are after. Booze! BOOZE. BOOZE! Awsome scotch selection, and I'm rather picky about who I say that about. They carry a huge selection of non name-brand liqours, and liquers.

Mike's Liquors is the best! They have everything you need for a party - liquor, mixers, cups, kegs. But the best part is "the beer guy" who graciously hauls those monstrous kegs up your stairs, just so you don't have to. What more can you ask for?

We just got two kegs for a party from these guys, and even though they delivered, I wanted to get them in person. I found that they have a great selection of Tequila, Islay and Highland scotch, Vodka's, and specialty everything. Plus, they had a discount on some micro kegs we got for a party!
The only down side to Mike's is the lack of Belgian and east-coast beers. I went to BevMo, and they had them (albeit expensive), but if I wanted Belgian beers, I wouldn't be going to Mike's anyway.

Ever since the dot com days we've been getting beers from these guys. In fact just today I ordered some for our party at the photography studio. Usually it's this one guy who always answers the phone but for the first time ever I got someone else. Either way, go for the jockey box - we usually opt for one keg of Guiness and one of Sierra.
Great selection of kegs and equally great service. Be mentally prepared for the massive deposit required for the jockeybox.
Best place in town for beers, liquors and wine. You can't beat free delivery, great selection and great service.
Kegs are always cold and ready to pour within minutes from delivery.
