we had a 7:30 dinner reservation @ schnitzlehaus and the fatties we are were waiting for our beloved bar crudo for some arctic char and kumomoto pre dinner snack(spoiled, i know) so to kill time we hoped on the bus to pick up some egg custard tarts @ golden gate bakery when we got there the sign said closed for vacation till aug 22(psh..lucky) so we walked around china town and decided to look for the supossedly "best chicken drummettes in sf"
I'm not sure what the hype is about. I mean, the chicken was nice and tender but the flavoring was nothing special. well i guess if you've been brought up with kfc and popeyes all your life then you're in for a treat. Its a standard asian chicken wing dish. Salt&pepper and the other thats marinated in a sweet soy sauce. The upside though, is we got a dozen wings for around $3.50!

First of all...I came here with only 5 dollars in my pocket. Hey! I use credit cards a lot ok? Stop judging me! Anyway, I asked the cook what I can get with 5 bucks! He stared at me blankly and told me that I could feed the entire village with 5 bucks! So, he hooked me up with 3 chicken drummettes...3 To Fu and fried rice. Also, he gave me 50 cent as part of rebate.
I gotto agree that the chicken drummettes are freaking delicious. Their To Fu is pretty decent. Anyway, lets talk about chicken drummettes shall we?
It's crispy on the skin and soft on the meat. I can guarantee you that once you go Daisy, you won't go back to KFC nor Popeye. As of July 2008, this is the best chicken drummettes I have in town.

It's gooooooooooood!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, I admit it, I was skeptical at first. I mean, how good could chicken drumettes possibly be? Either way, I kept an open mind and went there this afternoon. Picked up chicken drumettes and some chow mein to go. Wasn't too impressed with the appearance of the chow mein when I first saw it in the bin and remember thinking to myself, "This chow mein is all noodles." Eating it though, it wasn't bad at all. Way better than I initially thought when I first saw it and I guess it's above average. I would order it again, although I certainly wouldn't come just for the chow mein.
The chicken, however, was a totally different story. I wouldn't say it was orgasmic, but dang, that's still some pretty darn good chicken. There's a certain something in there that I just can't put my finger on. I don't know what it is, but whatever it is, it keeps you craving more and makes you continue eating, even after you're completely stuffed. Lunch was an hour ago and as I sit here typing this, I can still taste and crave that certain something. It's like some kind of sweetness. No wonder another Yelper put the expression "liquid crack" in their review about this chicken. Not one to easily jump on the bandwagon, but I'm now a believer...they truly are the best drumettes.
Prices are extremely reasonable too, especially for what you get.
My old boss once told me that a true oenophile (wine enthusiast) does not drink $100 bottles of wine every day, but rather finds joy in finding that special something, that extraordinary find that brings great pleasure at a fraction of the cost. I believe the same goes for food and a true foodie or epicure delights in finds like this.
I will most definitely be going back for the chicken.
Parking is a nightmare...I ended up just parking at the parking garage up the street next to the Hawaii West bar which is across the street from the police station. An easy solution and not too far from Gino & Carlo's bar or The Saloon (love these bars!) either, but that's a story for another day.

So many people give this place 5 stars for their chicken drummettes? Right now, you're thinking, "NGD is the regional destination for fried chicken in the bay area!! I must go!!" Alas, it is not to be. The chicken served here is, depending on your taste and whether or not their oil is rancid today, marginally better or worse than the chicken drummettes at a dozen other heat-table joints on Stockton. These are not the best chicken drummettes that money can buy in SF, pretty much any sit-down restaurant nearby will do better, so set your expectations accordingly!

Fargin Delicious Chicken drumettes. The best i've had in Cali. Its all about the marination.... salt, white pepper, corn starch, "secret" rice wine, sugar, MSG, and soy bean oil. Im positive i got 90% of the their recipe correct.
Reminds me of when i was a kid, and you get fried chicken as a treat cuz, its so not good for you. A bowl of rice, a bowl of chicken, some soup, and some veggies. Hot damn, comfort food at its best.
Avoid parking in the area, you are better off walkin to the joint, than circling for hours for a space.

So after nearly 2yrs as a lurker I finally decided to write my first review... as what's more appropriate for me to review than FRIED CHICKEN!
I walked over to New Golden Daisy for lunch yesterday after reading the other reviews and I must say I was impressed with the quality and the price. I ordered 1lb each of the Chicken Driumlettes, BBQ Spareribs and Chow Mein and paid $11. The chicken was by far the highlight, but everything was pretty tasty.
This place is my new favorite Chinese deli and I am content with believing that it's an accent Chinese secret that allows them to keep their prices so low!

Addicting fried drummettes!! Bought 2 pounds of drumsticks, half pound of chow mein and half pound of white chicken feet for $10. Great deal :) The soy sauce chicken wings look yummy too but didn't get any.. maybe next time when my laziness goes to Chinatown again... like next year =X
This place has the BEST fried chicken drummettes. Other places are bland or have too much batter but it's perfect here! Good thing I live far away from Chinatown or I'd be in trouble.
'Tis true about the fried chicken drummettes from New Golden Daisy (NGD). They are out of this world and are not your ordinary fried chicken. You have to taste them to be a believer. I'm convinced that they're laced with crack because I am A-D-D-I-C-T-E-D. I've been addicted to them ever since I was a young girl. My mom used to surprise us with takeout boxes of these whenever she ventured to Chinatown, it was always a treat. The drummettes are not extremely crispy, but it's the marinade that makes them so damn good. They cannot be imitated. I state this as a fact because I, the little experimental chef, tried to make these one day in San Diego, where I was 500 miles away from these crack wings. I never deep fry anything, but for the sake of my insatiable NGD fried chicken drummettes craving, I whipped up a marinade of soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, garlic and scallions. But to no avail, my wings were not even close. I have yet to find another place in Chinatown that makes them as good as NGD.

The chicken drummettes are goooooooooooood! I can't tell you how tasty it is you have to eat to know how great it is. I wish I can give this place more then 5 stars!
This place has the best FRIED CHICKEN DRUMLETTES of ALL OF SF! damnnn the flavors just burst into your mouth... you'll never find fried chicken drumlettes like this anyways in SF. These aren't salt and pepper, nor are they fried like San Tung, this place is different. My mom has been buying chinese deli food from here for my whole life.
Once you pop... you can't stop....! i can eat about 50 of these to my self. YUM!

i love their fried chicken it is so good and yummy! they taste so delicious and remarkable. I would really recommend this to people that like to eat fried chicken.
Did the cook from Gourmet Kitchen come here?!? I swear those little devils (chicken drumettes) taste the same - one wouldn't be able to tell the difference in a blind taste test!
Came here to try because of fellow Yelpers' reviews. Tried and not disappointed. Will need to try the other items in the future.
Excellent drumsticks. Not so great fried rice. But me- I'm all about the fried chicken.
This place is my new favorite take out for hairy chicken! Which if you've grown up here or around any other Chinese neighborhoods, that translates into fried chicken drummettes that still have a little bit of fuzz or even feathers on them. Gross, right? Well, when you grow up eating this and don't even notice it until wayyyyyyyyy later, you don't really care. Seriously, if you eat hot dogs or anything like that? Not that big of a deal.
Anyway, this place is a recent discovery for me. I used to always go a few doors down to Gourmet Kitchen but they've changed their recipe and it's not as tasty. I tried one drummette in December and was hooked. Ordered 10lbs for a small birthday party and it was not enough! My relatives got a little scary over it. Massive hoarding of the chicken.
The guy who took my order was nice enough and didn't speak much English but he did point at a calendar so that it was easier to figure out which day to pick up.

Got some roast duck here one time and it was pretty good.
I have yet to find any place with the same flavor and taste that New Golden Daisy offers for the fried chicken drumlets and I've been eating these for over a decade! Also, the BBQ pork spareribs are one-of-a-kind! Get a pound of each and also a pound of their chow mein and you can probably feed a family of 4 some of the best food in town for around 10-12 bucks.
The BEST chicken drumlettes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whenever we go to SF, my mom always stops by this place to get a couple pounds of chicken. My sister and I are always excited after receiving the container of happiness.
Great food. I used to come here to get a snack after school a lot. Their roasted pig, duck, and the huge variety of food is good!
I've actually contemplated awhile to decide whether or not I should write this review.
Alas, it's better to share the wealth! of knowledge I mean..
My family and I just threw a Birthday bash for my little niece. We had food catered from here. We ordered ten pounds of fried rice, five pounds of the chow mein, and another ten pounds of the fried chicken drummettes. All for a little over $50.00-sooo.. worth the price. The fried rice and chow mein were pretty good. The rice was flavorful and the chow mein wasn't greasy! The chicken drummettes must have been seasoned then dipped in liquid crack and then fried to golden perfection. They were so F-ing delicious.. F-innnnnggggggg deeelicious.. They are to Kill for!! No, not die. If I were dead then I won't have another opportunity to have more of their drummettes. So, yes. They are to kill for! My sister and I could hardly contain ourselves after the nice men in Golden Daisy helped us carry everything to the car. We immediately flung open the foil wrap and attacked the tray with full force. I mean we had to sample the food before offering it to our party guests!! That's only the right thing to do!! As we were driving back, we had to be cool because the PoPo were next to us. I wasn't worried about the fact that they might catch us driving with one hand and eating with the other swerving through the lanes. Or even slowing down traffic because we were a little pre-occupied with munching on the chicken. I was worried that they might get a whiff of the sweet smelling fried chicken and pull us over to jack us for our stash!!

Our office had a potluck. I was tasked with finding cheap ginormous plates of take out Chinese. Found New Golden Daisy from a rec from a co-worker.
Went in and placed my order. The place is a take out deli and sort of a dive. The guy took down my order and said I can pay as little as $5 deposit. I handed him a $20. Ordered beef chow fun, bbq pork chow mein & stir fry veggies (10 lbs each!!).
Went to pick it up the next day and they already had it ready! The deli guy helped us load it into our car.
Food was excellent. Not too greasy & not too salty. It was plentiful too. Now the office has lunch for tomorrow too!
Overall a great place to go to get take out party platters of chinese food. I paid $68 for 30 lbs of food (that fed 30 people and we only ate half of it!). Lee's charges for more.

Drumsticks are excellent as everyone else says... If you're having a banquet, their whole roast suckling pig is excellent too. Chow mein is fine as well but doesn't really stand out from the crowd as much as their drumsticks.
We were walking down Stockton street, pass this little hole in the wall and waht caught our eye were these thin strips of BBQ pork ribs. They look almost translucent and we decided we had to try one. We went in, my fiance ordered just one as he wanted to taste it because he was till full from breakfast earlier. The man behind the counter looked at him as is he was out of his mind, but proceeded to sell him kjust one piece. We walked down the street, opened the bag, took a bite and moaned out load. It was so fr***** good, we immediately turned around and bought more to take back to our hotel. We discovered that it was so delicious and so un beliveably addictive, we now called "pork crack." We hesitated to write this because we really didn't want anyone else to know about this secret and a gem so that there would be more of this incredibel treasure for us. You gotta try and I pormise you - you won't stop eating it. Enjoy!

Not so nearby the bus-stop, but before the corner of Jackson and Stockton, there's a small little place where I like to get Chinese fried chicken, the small ones, the best ones. I've been to every single place in Chinatown for these delectable little nuggets, and Golden Daisy has been the only one that has been able to satiate my thirst (or hunger) for them. Yes, they taste like deep fried oil, but who cares, indulge in the MSG and other spices that you probably don't want to know about!
The roast duck here is wonderful! Only 9.50 for the whole duck. Quack..
