for a good selection to have 50 people snack on and that I already had a Brie ready to go (Costco has it on the cheeeeeeeap!). Then I had a 30 minute personal cheese tasting session. I hadn't expected to try...

2. The Wine Mine

Neighborhood: North Oakland

knowledgeable and genuine.  Definitely stop by for the Saturday and occasional weekday tastings.  Also, if you love Belgium beers, there's a good selection as well!...

3. Tokyo Fish Market

halibut we've had in years.  As others have noted, they have a huge assortment of seafood along with a good selection of fruit and vegetables.  I look forward to shopping here again...

4. Vintage Berkeley

Neighborhood: Gourmet Ghetto

at pairing wines with food and suggesting new varieties to try.  Good selection of wine, very helpful staff, and a good mix of prices. The location can't really be beat either....

5. Kermit Lynch Wine…

Nice selection of non-California wines (mostly French).  Staff is VERY helpful and non-judgemental, while maintaining some fairly high standards.  Good range of prices too.  Also take a listen...

and indulged in sweet treats. I realize that good food and good people is all I really need to make me happy....

heart-warming than watching little ones weave through pizza-starved throngs, picking-out baked goods from the two-feet and lower section of the plastic-doored cases.  the only problem: sometimes the crows...

This is a tough review to put into stars.  I love Kermit Lynch's wines.  He has an incredible palate, provides great value, and does everything possible to make sure that his wines arrive into the US...

Judging by the hoards of good reviews I'm guessing I went on an off night? Whatever, I'm not planning to go to Jupiter anytime soon....

i don't know what's gotten into the folk at the cheeseboard, but their pizzas have been *slammin* lately.  yukon gold potato and onion!  corn, zuchini and cilantro pesto!  brilliant.  good lord...
